About the event

At the beginning of the summer, we used the metaphor of “dating” to describe our desire to explore our journey with Calvary and get to know them better. We feel we have been really blessed to worship in unity with Calvary. We’ve enjoyed the convenience of using their facility, some shared volunteer support, and the blessing of a 10 am start time!

But, that being said, with summer being such a fluid time for a church, it is hard to really get to know one another, so we think it might be good to continue on and go through a normal season of ministry together. As your senior leadership team, we see lots of mutual benefit in this, and it is what we think we are hearing from God and from you, but we would love to have a family chat about it.

As our two churches seek to glorify God together, there are loads of joys, awkward moments and questions to explore. What would a more permanent partnership with Calvary look like? How could we intentionally explore these questions? What if it doesn’t work out? How do we navigate these questions wisely? What is our body thinking and hearing? With all those questions in mind, we really want to have a conversation with you! At our family meeting, we will:

  • Pray and listen together.
  • Chat about what worship with Calvary might look like through the Fall.
  • Share our best guess about what a discernment process would be like and outline key categories for discussion.
  • Open the floor for you to share your thoughts, affirmations or concerns and ask any questions you might have.

As we prepare to gather, would you please:

  • Set aside some time to listen to the Lord and be prepared to share what you hear.
  • Jot down what excites you, what concerns you and any burning questions.

Our hope is to have a rich Spirit-guided experience of sharing and listening that will give us the input and thought needed for our leaders to guide our body and keep us in the centre of God’s will for us as a church. We would greatly value the conversation!

Ahren, on behalf of the OVC Senior Leadership Team

P.S. We will try for a streaming option, but it would be such a blessing to have any of the online crowd who are able to join us attend in person!
